New Frazer MICUs In-service

26 October 2015

Following 10 months of planning, design and meetings, YREMS placed twin 2015 Dodge RAM HD 4500 Frazer Ambulances into service. Designated MICU 19-1 and MICU 36-3, the units are the primary responding ALS units 24 hours a day. The Paramedic staffed units provide pre-hospital Advanced Life Support to the ill and injured of our community. The Dodge units bring the YREMS fleet total to 5 MICUs and 1 Squad.

These units are equipped with the latest in patient care and comfort. Gone is the air-ride system which will save on costly maintenance and repairs. The new units boast a "Liquid Spring" system which is a closed hydraulic ride system, automatically adjusting the ride and handling of the vehicle based on road conditions. The HVAC system is designed with an integrated ultra-violet system to kill germs and bacteria in circulating air. All interior and emergency lighting are LED which significantly reduces our electrical consumption. The patient care module is self sufficient with its' own on-board generator system, eliminating the draw of power and mechanics from the chassis.
